Updated: Mar 26, 2023

Taking good photos during a trip is essential for everyone, especially while traveling with family. We understand the value of capturing the essence of your family in a photo, that's why we focus our job on creating the pictures that you will cherish for years to come through a stress-free and enjoyable experience for you and your family.

As a family photographer, I'm here to offer you 8 preparation steps to help you achieve a wonderful photoshoot during your stay on the island.

In this blog, we'll cover tips on how to prepare for it, from scheduling the right time, to what to bring to the session and also how to help your kids to enjoy the ride.

Photoshoot prep time

Aruba is a popular tourist destination known for its warm weather and breathtaking scenery. It's no wonder why families fly here to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime vacation experience. This paradise island, with its white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, makes the perfect backdrop for your family pictures.

Whether you're here to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, or anniversary, or simply to enjoy a relaxing family getaway, capturing these memories in photographs is a must.

So in order to get the most out of your family photography session, Here are our 8 steps to help you get ready for this adventure in Aruba:

Choosing the right time:

The best moment for taking photos in Aruba is during the golden hour morning, which is the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset since the light will be soft and warm thus producing a beautiful glow in your photographs.

Outfit for the Occasion:

Choose Light Colors; Light neutral colors work well on the beach as they help to create a soft natural look. Avoid bright bold colors, as they can be distracting in photographs.

Wear Comfortable Clothing:

to feel comfy and relaxed during your photoshoot, choose clothing that is breathable and easy to move around in. Lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen, or chiffon are ideal for the beach.

Avoid Busy Patterns:

Avoid wearing clothing with busy patterns or logos, as they can also be distracting in photographs. Instead, look for solid colors or subtle patterns like stripes.

Be Flexible:

Toddlers can be unpredictable, so be prepared to be flexible and go along with the flow during the photo session. If your toddler needs a break or becomes upset, take a break and try again later.

Timing is Key:

Schedule the photo session for a time when your toddler is well-fed and rested. Avoid scheduling the session during nap or meal time, as this can make your toddler cranky and uncooperative.

Wear Simple Jewelry:

Keep your jewelry simple and understated, as it can easily get lost in the beach scenery. A pair of simple earrings or a necklace can add a nice touch to your outfit without being too distracting.

Bring Props:

Consider bringing along some props that reflect your family's personality. This could be anything from a favorite toy or book to a sports jersey or musical instrument.

Preparing Your Kids

Getting your kids ready for a photo shoot could be a challenge, but with a little

preparation, it can be a fun experience for them.

Here we give you some tips to help you prepare your kids for their photoshoots:

Talk to Them:

Explain to your kids what will happen during the photo session,

and what they can expect "This is Eyla and Jonnathan and they will be taking pictures and playing with us". Let them know that it will be a fun experience and

that they will get to play on the beach and have their picture taken.

Bring Snacks:

Kids can get hungry and grumpy quickly, so bring plenty of

snacks and drinks to keep them happy and energized during the photo

session.

Play Games:

Encourage your kids to have fun and play games during the

photo session. Bring beach toys, like buckets and shovels, and let them build

sandcastles or play in the water.

Dress Them Comfortably:

Dress your kids in comfortable clothing that they

can move in, and that won't cause any discomfort or irritation. Make sure they

are wearing shoes that they can run around in, and that won't hurt their feet on

the sand.

Keep it Positive:

Keep the mood upbeat, and don't put too much pressure on your kids to perform or behave in a certain way. Remember the goal is to capture happy memories and have fun on the beach!
